Le Histoire de Fox...

Rik in Retrospect

Controversy. The key factor surrounding Rik Fox. Always has, always will. Entering this world at the tender age of birth, in, of all place Amityville New York -- How appropriate. Thru parental migration, Rik wound up in Greenpoint, the 'Garden Spot' of Brooklyn. Basically dissatisfied with his surroundings, (and trying to teach himself how to Rock and Roll...) Fox struck out for the Top 40 'Glitter Glam' circuit of New Jersey, circa 1975-76. Armed with platform boots, and tons of make-up, Rik quickly secured the position of Bassist in "Virgin", a 'Bowie-cum-Alice Cooper' sexually promiscuous rock act with and extensive draw all over Jersey, quickly establishing his... "Charismatic Appeal".

Virgin soon gave way to 'Lust', arriving at 'SIN'. (Sounds like a natural progression don't it?), a group of Rik's' own creation. Always a driving force in whatever he does, Fox continued the onslaught of making his 'Charismatic' presence affirmed throughout the Tri-State area, (Yes, Jersey too). Rik received a phone call from the music Mecca of Hollywood Calif., somewhere around Sept.-Oct. of 1981. It seems 'that' some vacationing L.A. Rockers has seen Rik and suggested him to a Major club attraction of Hollywood's Starwood fame... A controversial act calling themselves "Sister". Several phone calls later, led to Rik's eventual migration to sunny 'El-ay', circa Feb. 1982, auditioning for, and securing the position of... What else? Bassist. That 'driving force' of Rik's, created the groups' new moniker... WASP, and he recorded their first demo under that name. The groups' band leader finding his pride eventually threatened by... What else? Fox's charismatic magnet!!! Rik was 'released from sentence', cut off and left to flounder on his own...

Rik pushed on to perform live with, and record a well received successful debut album with L.A.'s "Steeler", and to date, the album is still a World-Wide strong selling mainstay. With Steelers' demise, the album is now a legendary collectors' item for all Rock kids to cut their teeth on. Now with enough credits and international notoriety under his belt, Fox was where he needed to be... Ready to re-form "SIN". With that barrage of notoriety, Rik enlisted the help of Charmaine King - President of 'King Kommunikation, a well established L.A. Publicity firm known for handling several local L.A. acts, as well as former publicist, instrumental for launching ex-KISS Guitarist Vinnie Vincent into the solo spotlight.

Ms King noted immediately Fox's 'Charismatic magnet', and promptly saw to it that Rik was to became a household word. (Well for the rock kids anyway...), From Japan (where Japanese act 'Loudness' affirms Fox has a monumental following!), thru Europe, and back home to the U.S. of A. long time (tongue) Friend and mentor, Gene (KISS) Simmons advised Fox that his timing couldn't have been any better!!

Rik reformed SIN in late Summer of 1983, and in the following six months' time, Rik Fox and his band SIN, had performed before at least seventy-five thousand screaming Sin-cere fans and headlined all but two of those shows!!! 1984's Music Connection magazine's year end poll saw Rik realize a vision... Sin was voted L.A.'s Top Drawing Hard Rock Act for 1984!!! Rik Fox had definitely made his mark on Southern Calif., and in just a hair over one year, ass-kicking solid ground was gained. Rik Fox was that household word!!

Now with major record labels nosing around all the dust Rik was raising, for a potential deal, SIN entered Encore Studios in Burbank. Armed with infamous producer (and sexual deviant) Dana Strum (Of Vinnie Vincent Invasion) and MGMNT. 3's Todd Cooper, the Hottest album demo of the was decade was soon finding its way to the waiting hands of the major labels. The brass ring was in sight, and Rik's horse was coming around the turn.

While starring in a top drawing club act may have been enough for anyone, Rik Fox is not just anyone. He branched out into other fields, as another stage called to Rik and he answered. Being raised as an only child, Rik spent countless hours before his caretaker, the TV absorbing everything the film industry could pump out. In Rik's mind, the film industry has always been on the back burner.

Upon his return to the studio, Miss-Fortune soon made her presence felt, and bad personnel chemistry led to Sin's' demise like sand thru Rik's fingers. As he reached for that brass ring, someone pulled the plug and the ride came to a stop. After several false starts with smaller local acts, (and the miserable failure of Arizona's 'Surgical Steel'), Rik decided to dust off his armor, and once again climb again into 'The Arena' (and the drivers' seat). With Rik's skill at musical direction and costume design, he formed his next assault in the form of Thunderball. As with previous bands of his design, Thunderball gave the appearance of an arena act on a club stage. He also continued to utilize all of the endorsements he had garnered to this point. Thunderball showed promising success, including being featured as the band "Putrid Rage" in a nationally televised Western Union Commercial in 1988, yet once again personnel chemistry took it's toll and Rik was again denied the brass ring of success. Further proof of this lies in the fact that, he was approached by the band Angel three times, Starz twice and Quiet Riot, but prior commitments, and scheduling got in the way.

By this time, the Metal Scene was undergoing a change, and new types of music for the young such as Grunge were starting to change the look of the club scene. Rik took note of the changes and continued to work towards success, but Fate in the form of being a passenger in a terrible head-on collision and the resulting rehabilitation period took Rik out of the music scene for several of years, so he decided to move on to other fields where his creative talents and skills could be utilized.

So with some nominal acting abilities under his belt, and with World-Wide Rock and Roll notoriety a part of his resume, Rik is prepared to go where his destiny calls... "Ultimate Stardom" in whatever form it may take. "I have a goal in this life." Rik states, "While I'm here, I have an even greater vision to see thru -- I won't be swayed from it, and I intend to pursue my calling until I have it by the throat, and make it pay up."
